Patchi opens 'Le Resto' in Dbayeh, betting on upscale casual dining

The Patchi group continues to diversify into the restaurant business with the opening of Le Resto, a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant developed in partnership with chef Youssef Akiki. Located in Dbayeh, the project represents a $1.5 million investment.

Following the launch of Patchi Café, the Lebanese group is expanding its presence in the restaurant sector with the opening of Le Resto, a new venue in Dbayeh. Designed as an all-day dining destination, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, while also offering a dedicated selection of desserts and beverages in what it describes as a sophisticated yet relaxed setting.

Developed in collaboration with chef Youssef Akiki, Le Resto positions itself in the upscale casual dining segment, combining gourmet cuisine with an approachable atmosphere. The menu reinterprets Mediterranean cuisine through a contemporary lens, highlighting fresh ingredients and bold flavors.

"Following the success of Patchi Café and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received on the cuisine and atmosphere, we saw an opportunity to create a more complete destination for our customers," said Dona Bardawil, Patchi group's marketing director. "In keeping with our commitment to offering exceptional experiences, we partnered with chef Youssef Akiki to create a menu that is both distinctive and accessible, featuring carefully crafted, falvorful dishes."

Average bill ranges from $20 to $70

The 300-square-meter restaurant seats 95 guests, with 60 places indoors and 35 on the terrace. A team of 30 employees operates the venue.

The menu is tailored to different times of the day, from breakfast through dinner. The average bill is estimated at around $20 for breakfast, $40 to $50 for lunch, and $60 to $70 for dinner with alcohol.

The project was entirely financed by the Patchi Group, which invested approximately $1.5 million in the venture, including an adjoining retail boutique. It is a significant investment at a time when Lebanon's economy remains marked by uncertainty.

For the group, however, the opening is part of a long-term strategy rather than a risky bet.

"The opening of Le Resto in Dbayeh is part of the brand's strategic development plan, which was launched before the war," said Fady al-Khoury, the Patchi group's food and beverage director.

"We believe in Lebanon and its ability to overcome difficult times. We're convinced the market will rebound as the situation stabilizes."

As for when the restaurant is expected to break even, management remains cautious.

"It's still too early to make a precise projection, as this will largely depend on how the country's security situation evolves," al-Khoury said.

With Le Resto, Patchi is pursuing a broader diversification strategy that extends beyond chocolate and coffee, further expanding into the restaurant industry while targeting customers seeking refined yet approachable dining experiences.
