Jean-Claude Alfa, now 86, still runs his kitchen with an iron fist. After beginning his career with Pierre Cardin and Givenchy, he eventually ventured into the food and beverage industry. Since 2010, Jean-Claude has been serving high-end French delicacies in his eponymous bistro, originally located on Gabriel Khabbaz Street, in Furn al-Hayek, Beirut. Unfortunately, the kitchen was destroyed during the Aug. 4 explosion, and their other location in Plateau de Bakish, in the Metn district, closed. They have since relocated to a new address just off Charles Malek Street, on Khalil Abou Hamad Street, where Breakfast Barn used to be, in Beirut’s Achrafieh neighborhood.
