What do we know about the al-Radwan Force, Hezbollah's special forces unit, which is all across the news in Israel?
The Israeli media estimate that al-Radwan is made up of 2,500 fighters.
Their elite training is believed to be provided by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
The group showed off military exercises to the press in May 2023 in southern Lebanon, simulating an infiltration of Israeli territory and displaying an impressive military arsenal.
Israel fears that this commando could infiltrate Israel one day, in the event of a new war with Hezbollah, especially as it was thanks to Hamas’ elite unit, al-Nukhba, that Hamas broke into Israel on Oct. 7.
Al-Radwan's current leader, Haytham Ali Tabatabai, was placed on the US terrorist wanted list in 2016.
Today, al-Radwan is said to be taking part, along with other Hezbollah units, in Hezbollah-led strikes in southern Lebanon.
