Since the resumption of the war in Lebanon in early March, Israeli officials have been applying the same strategy in southern Lebanon as in Gaza, aiming to create a buffer zone. Our analysis and the authentication of images published online, combined with the few satellite images we have obtained, confirm the scale of the disaster: in less than two weeks, some urban areas have completely disappeared.
This is a particularly difficult task, as the US government has forced satellite imagery providers to suspend broadcasting their feeds over the region, making access to evidence in these now inaccessible areas extremely difficult.
From Khiam to Naqoura, passing through Deir Siryan and Taybeh, entire swathes of Lebanese history are being obliterated by Israeli explosives, bombings, and bulldozers.
Our visual analysis.
