Life under Israeli drones in southern Lebanon

More than a year after the November 2024 cease-fire, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon are again intensifying. At the same time, Israel is waging another kind of war: a technological one fought from the sky. Armed drones now circle the border almost constantly. They fire missiles, film homes and fields, and buzz low over villages, turning routine errands into calculated risks. Residents in southern Lebanon say they time school runs, hospital visits and farm work around the sound of engines overhead. Even when there are no strikes, the machines record every movement, blurring the line between battlefield and home and leaving civilians feeling exposed. In southern Lebanon’s border towns, people describe it as nonstop drone surveillance and psychological warfare.
