Map of targeted areas in Iran

On Saturday, Feb. 28, Israel and the U.S. launched an unprecedented attack on Iran, targeting military infrastructure and key figures of the regime, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, more than twenty provinces were hit. What do we really know about this offensive, its targets and its coordination?

In Tehran, strikes targeted the Supreme Leader’s residential complex, and his death was announced overnight by state television. Other senior military officials were also killed. On Feb. 28 alone, the Iranian Red Crescent reported at least 200 deaths, a toll that continues to rise as the attack goes on. In response, Iran fired several waves of missiles at Israel and sites linked to the United States in the region.
