An economist by training and a graduate of Stanford and Columbia universities, Hanine Sayyed is an expert on social protection issues at the World Bank (WB) for the Middle East and North Africa region. She coordinated the WB's response to the Syrian crisis between 2011 and 2017. She is part of the National Moderation Bloc (ex-Hariri, Future Movement) and succeeds Hector Hajjar, affiliated with the FPM.
