Hassan Nasrallah’s funeral

Hezbollah holds a grand funeral for its slain leader, Hassan Nasrallah, this Sunday, Feb. 23, in Beirut, using the occasion to assert its popularity after being severely weakened by its war with Israel. Tens of thousands are gathered to attend the funeral of Nasrallah, who was killed on Sept. 27, 2024, by an Israeli strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs during the ongoing Hezbollah-Israel conflict. The funeral ceremony, scheduled for 1 p.m. local time (11 a.m. GMT) at the Camille Chamoun Stadium on the southern outskirts of the Lebanese capital, will coincide with a four-hour closure of Beirut’s international airport, located nearby.
