“Your newspaper is a bit like the Tower of Babel; I hear French, English and Arabic,” jokes a visitor in the halls of L’Orient-Le Jour.A Tower of Babel indeed, but with one major difference: Beyond their languages, the French-, English-, and Arabic-speaking journalists are in constant communication with one another, unlike in the biblical story in which God punishes men who, out of pride, try to build a tower reaching the sky by confusing their language so they can no longer understand one another.
