Appeal filed against decision to end proceedings against Tarek Bitar over abuse of power

MP and former minister Ali Hassan Khalil, who is implicated in the case and had joined the action of the former chief prosecutor, has filed an appeal before the indictment chamber against the investigating judge's decision.

The legal battle against the investigative judge at the Court of Justice, Tarek Bitar, in charge of the probe into the double explosion at the Beirut port, continues. Ali Hassan Khalil, a former minister and MP from the Amal movement, filed an appeal on Monday against a decision by ad hoc judge Habib Rizkallah to end proceedings in an abuse of power case against Judge Bitar.In his ruling, Rizkallah concluded with a dismissal, ruling that Bitar would not be prosecuted.
