'Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,' new stage in international aid system's collapse

Since U.S. President Donald Trump's rise to power coincided with the major war shaking the Gaza Strip, different developments have converged to destroy the international emergency aid system built since the end of World War II.The humanitarian model that prevailed until the end of 2024 mobilized three major types of actors: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), created in 1863 by Swiss Henry Dunant along with the jurist Moynier and General Dufour (who was the first initiator of the construction of modern International Humanitarian Law (IHL)), U.N. agencies involved in managing emergencies in crisis areas and international non-governmental organizations.All these organizations share the common denominator of respecting the fundamental principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.
