The presidential election has not mobilized Riyadh and Paris, yet

The meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday was a major event; as much for Europe, which is facing an unprecedented energy crisis, as it was for the crown prince, who is somewhat trying to restore his image in the eyes of the West. This was MBS’s first visit to Paris since Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated in 2018 in his country’s consulate in Istanbul.
