SOUTH LEBANON — Israel resumed its strikes Wednesday morning in southern Lebanon after several attacks during the night, according to information from our correspondent in the region.
Artillery fire targeted an area between Haris and Haddatha (Bint Jbeil), while machine-gun fire was reported in Haddatha. Artillery also repeatedly targeted Mansouri (Sour). In the Hasbaya district, four shells targeted the Kouroum area east of Kfar Shuba. Israeli artillery also struck Nabatieh Fawqa (Nabatieh).
Artillery and automatic weapon fire
During the night, artillery had notably fired on Jarmak (Jezzine), in an area located a few kilometers north of the so-called "buffer zone" occupied by Israel.
The Israeli army focused its fire on the Bint Jbeil district. Movements of Israeli vehicles were spotted near the mosque between Aita al-Jabal and Beit Yahoun, and artillery fire targeted the sector, accompanied by automatic weapon fire. Artillery shells also hit the outskirts of Braasheet and Beit Yahoun villages, and movements of Israeli vehicles were reported in Zawtar Sharqieh (Nabatieh), while artillery targeted the outskirts of Mayfadoun.
Mansouri (Sour) was attacked repeatedly by artillery fire, as well as by automatic weapon fire. Machine-gun fire targeted Bouyout al-Siyyad (Sour). Five shells also hit Wadi Zibqine. Artillery struck Khiam and Wadi al-Hojeir (Marjayoun), and automatic weapon fire occurred on the outskirts of Birket al-Naqqar, near Shebaa (Hasbaya).
Furthermore, the Israeli army announced Wednesday that it had completed an operation this week in the Kfar Shuba area, during which an "explosive device ready to be detonated, a Hezbollah position, as well as other combat equipment" were found. Several incursions and shots have been reported in recent days on the outskirts of Kfar Shuba, a still-inhabited village located at the edge of the occupation zone. On Oct. 7, Israeli fire hit a United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) position in the area.
