Holding a PhD in economics from Columbia University in the U.S., Amer Bsat is the Global Head of Emerging Markets at BlackRock, where he has been working since 2013. From 1991 to 1998, he was a leading economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), involved in negotiating major programs with Russia, Ukraine, and Egypt. He is part of the National Moderation parliamentary bloc (ex-Hariri, Future Movement) and succeeds Amine Salam, affiliated with the Azm Movement, founded by outgoing Prime Minister Nagib Mikati.
