Six cancer drugs under investigation in Lebanon

Amid concerns over their quality and effectiveness, Court of Cassation Public Prosecutor Ahmad Rami al-Hajj is reviewing cases involving six drugs used to treat certain cancers. Several patients reportedly raised concerns about the drugs with their treating physicians. The medicines were introduced to the Lebanese market by a local company in which the son of a former president of the Order of Pharmacists is reportedly a shareholder. The patients’ concerns were then relayed to Health Minister Rakan Nasreddine, who referred the matter to the Public Prosecutor’s Office by filing a complaint against "any party that may have been involved in endangering citizens’ health," a source close to the ministry told L’Orient-Le Jour.
