Coffee Break: Nathalie and Nadyn dress up the Lebanese malaise

Nathalie Masri and Nadyn Chalhoub are the hilarious duo behind "Coffee Break," whose bittersweet, slightly jaded sketches have earned them nearly 200,000 loyal followers on Instagram. Now, they’re taking their catchphrases off the screen with a new line of merchandise.

For every thirtysomething like them struggling to make it in a Lebanon that offers its youth little beyond blood, sweat, tears and unemployment — or, on the other end of the spectrum, glitter, accessories for the nouveau riche, trendy spots and cookie-cutter identities — Nathalie Masri and Nadyn Chalhoub show that life is still possible, provided you take it with a double, triple or even quadruple dose of irony.Armed with a notepad and a pink plastic typewriter, they stare reality in the face — only to mock it, and offer alternative ways of coping when you can no longer go with the flow.
