For the first time since the cease-fire reached on April 8 between the U.S. and Iran — since largely undermined — American soldiers have been killed by enemy fire. While Tehran had mainly concentrated its attacks on Israel and Gulf states at the height of the war, the incident occurred in Jordan, thrusting the country into the center of an escalation that threatens each day to return to the war of February.
