It was in the newly renovated, air-conditioned courtroom at Roumieh Prison that the Mount Lebanon Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Elie Helou, held a hearing on Tuesday in the case of the alleged killing of 19-year-old Khalil Khalil, who was allegedly shot by Jonathan Chamoun in Faraya, Kesrouan, in February 2025.Five of the six defendants appeared at the hearing, the sixth having submitted a medical report. During the session, the three witnesses gave their testimony and lawyers delivered their arguments, representing both the defense and the victim’s family.Helou, who firmly managed the proceedings and imposed discipline on the parties, their legal representatives and spectators amid a tense atmosphere, scheduled the verdict for July 14.
