On several fronts, diplomatic contacts and initiatives are intensifying to consolidate the cease-fire in Lebanon, examine the modalities and implications of an Israeli withdrawal, and prepare comprehensive political arrangements for the next phase — what has come to be known as "the day after."At the center of these efforts is Qatar. It is playing a key role in U.S.-Iranian negotiations and the Pakistani channel. It's also supporting Lebanon in talks with Israel under U.S. mediation.
