During the ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, First Lady Neemat Aoun was surrounded on her right by the Minister of Education, Rima Karameh, the regional director of UNESCO, Paolo Fontani, and the Director General of Education, Fady Yarak.

A year ago, 150 public and private schools selected from across the country joined the School of Citizenship program launched by First Lady Neemat Aoun, with the support of UNESCO, the Education Ministry, and civil society organizations.The war disrupted that momentum, but it did not weaken Aoun’s determination to pursue her vision of nurturing “a generation of citizens.” On Thursday, she paid tribute to the school principals involved in the pilot program and announced that it would be expanded to 300 schools beginning next academic year.Speaking at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, Aoun highlighted the unifying role played by schools that continued teaching, provided shelter for displaced people, and engaged their students in civic initiatives.
