Hamas’ military wing, the Ezzeddine al-Qassam Brigades, condemned the killing of Mohammad al-Yazouri, commander of its Khan Younis brigade in the southern Gaza Strip, describing the Israeli attack as a “cowardly assassination operation.”

Despite Hamas’ approval last month of a U.S. plan calling for its disarmament, Israel continues daily strikes on the besieged Palestinian enclave. The attack that killed al-Yazouri took place overnight Thursday into Friday in Khan Younis, according to local Al Jazeera correspondents.

Other Israeli airstrikes in Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, injured several people Friday, according to rescue workers cited by the Qatari news outlet.

The Israeli army also said it killed two other Hamas officials Thursday, including the head of a sniper unit in the Rafah brigade, identified as Moamen Jabre al-Sayed, according to Haaretz.

Despite the cease-fire announced Oct. 11, 2025, at least 1,359 Palestinians have been killed and 4,571 wounded by daily Israeli gunfire and bombardment in Gaza, according to the latest official figures from the local Health Ministry.
