BEIRUT — Lebanese stranded in the tourist destination of Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, on Sunday called upon Lebanese president and Prime Minister Joseph Aoun and Nawaf Salam to assist them in returning home.
This group of about 600 people, comprising individuals of all ages, including children, is beginning to "lack financial resources and also baby formula," according to information from the state-run National News Agency. They are asking "to be provided with a solution to return home because their situation is starting to worsen."
These Lebanese found themselves stranded in Egypt following the war declared by Israel on Iran on Friday, which took the entire region by surprise. Since then, aviation has been severely disrupted in various countries, and Lebanon has, on multiple occasions, had to close its airspace, just like other countries, due to the exchange of missiles and the passage of drones and planes between the two non-bordering powers.
