A fire broke out Thursday morning at the "Karaz" Hotel, located in Ehden's square, almost completely destroying the building, according to L'Orient Today's regional correspondent.
According to preliminary reports, the flames, which quickly spread through the hotel, caused significant material damage, but resulted in no casualties. The Civil Defense managed to control the fire, the causes of which remain unknown.
Known for its traditional architecture, the "Karaz" Hotel was a leading tourist attraction in Ehden, especially during the summer season, on which Lebanese authorities have relied after the war between Israel and Hezbollah dealt a severe blow to the sector in 2024.
Several heat wave-related fires have been reported recently throughout Lebanese. In early May, the international environmental organization Greenpeace sounded the alarm about the effects of climate change in Lebanon. Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani said that he had declared a state of emergency in the forestry sector to prevent disasters.
