Beirut's governor, the executive authority of the municipality, Marwan Abboud, on Saturday ordered the capital's gas stations to settle their legal status within a month or face being sealed with red wax.
“Gas stations in Beirut that do not have a license have one month to settle their legal status by submitting a file proving the legality of the station's construction and applying for a license for this purpose with the municipality,” Abboud said in a statement. He also warned that gas stations not complying with this ultimatum “will be sealed with red wax” in accordance with the law.
To adjust the parking situation in Beirut, Abboud had forced managers, at the beginning of February, to issue a printed receipt to the customer, indicating the entry time of the vehicle, so that the amount payable is calculated upon exit. He had also adjusted the rates of outdoor or underground public parking according to the type of parking areas.
