A large fire broke out Wednesday evening in an informal Syrian refugee camp near the Bassel al-Assad Cultural Center in the city of Sour, south Lebanon, and the Civil Defense was still trying to extinguish the blaze. No casualties have been reported so far.
Many Syrian refugees in Lebanon live in precarious conditions, with makeshift camps being vulnerable to accidents and disasters.
Also on Wednesday, a generator caught fire in the evening in Baqiha, a village in the Wadi Khaled region in Akkar, at the far north of the country. Civil Defense firefighters headed to the scene to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading. No casualties were reported, but the flames reached some parked cars nearby.
