President Joseph Aoun met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Tuesday at the presidential palace in Baabda to discuss the “measures to be adopted in response to the consequences of the Israeli aggression on the southern suburb” of Beirut, the Lebanese presidency announced on X.

On Saturday, the secretary-general of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, warned that if the Lebanese state failed to achieve results through diplomacy in response to Israeli violations, “other options” would be considered. He spoke after the first Israeli strike on the southern suburbs since the cease-fire was reached in November 2024, in response to the firing of two rockets from south Lebanon. At dawn on Tuesday, the Israeli army launched another attack on this same area, killing four people, including a senior Hezbollah officer, Hassan Ali Bdeir and his son.

Additionally, the presidency said that the head of state and the prime minister discussed their recent trips abroad. Aoun traveled to Paris for a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. The next day, Nawaf Salam was in Saudi Arabia for Eid al-Fitr, where he met with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
