At the moment of the double blast at the Beirut port, Rony Mecattaf was at a friend's house in Gemmayzeh. Like all those who were there that day and at that time within the blast perimeter, this psychotherapist's life was turned upside down. Impaled directly by a shard of glass or metal, he found himself wandering, bloodied, in streets lined with broken glass.People who appeared like "angels" on his path would rescue him and transport him from a clinic, where he received first aid, to a hospital in Sidon, where he underwent the first in a series of surgeries that, from Lebanon to France and Belgium, attempted to save his injured eye in vain.
