The Israeli army destroyed a large number of houses in the border village of Kfar Kila (Marjayoun) on Thursday evening after 9:30 p.m. Very strong explosions and tremors were felt throughout the governate of Nabatieh, according to L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent.

A little later after 10:00 p.m., a loud explosion was also heard near the banks of the Litani (Lebanon's largest river, which stretches from the Bekaa to the south), just north of Deir Mimas (Bint Jbeil).

Despite the start of the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah on Nov. 27, and even though the committee responsible for monitoring it and chaired by an American general has been formed, Israeli violations continue to occur daily in the areas that are still occupied. Many homes in heavily bombed villages such as Kfar Kila, still unscathed after two months of intense warfare between late September and late November, were destroyed by the Israeli army after the cease-fire.

The war between Israel and Hezbollah began on Oct. 8, 2023, when the latter opened a support front with Gaza after an unprecedented operation by Hamas in Israel on Oct. 7. The war took a more violent turn from Sept. 23, 2024, until Nov. 27. The damage in Lebanon amounts to billions of dollars along with more than 4,000 killed and thousands of others wounded.
