The Lebanese army announced on Monday that an Israeli drone strike on a military bulldozer carrying out work at a military center near the Haoush al-Sayyed Ali border crossing in Hermel, in northern Bekaa, had injured a soldier.
L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent had reported shortly before a drone strike on the Syrian side of the border, in the same place.
The border crossings between Lebanon and Syria have been repeatedly bombed in the Bekaa and North Lebanon since Sept. 23 and the launch of the large-scale Israeli offensive in Lebanon. Most of them are partially operational again.
Several Israeli strikes have targeted Lebanon since the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect on Nov. 27. The pro-Iranian group has not announced a response. On Sunday, the Israeli army said it had killed fighters in southern Lebanon and had located a tunnel "containing weapons."
According to information from L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent, Israeli strikes have been reported daily in Lebanon since the announcement of the cease-fire, notably on Sunday in Yaroun (Bint Jbeil) and Khiam (Marjayoun).
Sponsored by the United States and France, the cease-fire agreement provides for the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanon within 60 days. Hezbollah must withdraw to the north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the border, and dismantle its military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Israel said it reserves "complete freedom of military action" in Lebanon, "if Hezbollah violates the agreement and attempts to rearm."
