Hochstein from Ain al-Tineh: ‘Cease-fire solution within reach’

The U.S. envoy is pressing forward with his diplomatic tour, racing to secure a cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel.

Arriving in Beirut on Tuesday morning to continue cease-fire negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein of the Biden administration stated that a resolution to the conflict "is within reach.” This ongoing diplomatic effort comes as the two belligerents, locked in open war since Sept. 23 following a year of escalating cross-border attacks, face intensified Israeli bombings on Hezbollah strongholds, Beirut and its southern suburbs.In a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berry and US Ambassador Lisa Johnson at Ain al-Tine, Hochstein described the discussions as "very good." “We are facing a real opportunity for a solution,” Hochstein emphasized, adding “the solution is within reach.” However, he offered no further details and declined to answer any questions from the press.In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat...
