A major fire that broke out on Saturday morning in Beirut's Hamra district at 8:20 a.m., following a malfunction in a private generator in a parking lot near the “Barbar” restaurant, has been brought under control, reports the official National News Agency (NNA).
According to the agency, a migrant worker, whose nationality was not mentioned, was hospitalized after jumping from an upper floor of a building surrounded by flames. A woman was also injured and hospitalized.
A total of 25 cars were damaged, and damage was reported to nearby buildings.
According to images circulating on social networks, the flames, which spread rapidly, set parked cars on fire and caused loud explosions, spreading panic among residents. Wisps of black smoke enveloped the immediate vicinity. Civil Defense teams were dispatched to the scene. Efforts were made to rescue residents as the flames closed in on their apartments.
