BEIRUT — Contact has been lost with several families in Khiam (Marjayoun) after Israel's attempted incursion into the town Monday and its shelling of residential neighborhoods in the afternoon, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported Tuesday.
The mukhtar of Wazzani, Ahmad Shehadi told L’Orient Today that "three brothers and their families, originally from the town of Al-Wazzani and residing in Khiam, have been unreachable since an Israeli force entered the area, and their homes came under shelling." He added, "All attempts to contact them have failed. We have no idea what happened to them."
The mukhtar urgently called on “all relevant parties, especially the U.N., Red Cross, and Lebanese army, to determine the fate of these families and uncover what has happened to them.”
According to L'Orient Today's correspondent, “there is a complete absence of the Lebanese Red Cross and UNIFIL forces in the area," and the Israeli army was reportedly "in their neighborhood."
Contact with the head of the municipality and the mukhtar of Khiam has been lost.
According to Al-Manar, Hezbollah affiliated media channel, contact has been lost with 20 people including children after Israel's incursion into Khiam Monday afternoon.
