BEIRUT — Residents of the village of Boutshay (Baabda) prevented two trucks from unloading their cargo in a rented warehouse in the village on Saturday night forcing them to leave the area, the mukhtar of Boutshay and residents confirmed to L'Orient Today.

Israel has previously bombarded Hezbollah trucks carrying weapons in Lebanon. Both sides have been in an attrition conflict since last October which escalated into a full-blown war in September.

A resident told L'Orient Today that after refusing to uncover the cargo, the truck drivers said it consisted of electricity wires. Another resident said that the trucks were transporting lamps, not weapons.

The mukhtar of the village, Melhem al-Aramouni, told L'Orient Today that the concerned warehouse is legally registered but residents were scared because the trucks moved around the village at 9:30 p.m., which they believed was suspicious.

"Today, when people see big trucks, they get scared especially since [Israeli drones] are flying over Lebanon all the time", he said.

Aramouni added that the situation is now calm in the village and that the whole incident on Saturday night lasted for only 15 minutes.
