One year ago today, Hamas launched an unprecedented attack against southern Israel, killing more than 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostage, as part of what the group described as an operation to arrest soldiers for a prisoner exchange deal. A few hours later, Israel responded by launching a devastating bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip and, twenty days later, a ground invasion.
For a year, Palestinians in Gaza have been trapped under a deluge of fire. Nearly 42,000 people have been killed, according to local authorities. In September, Gaza's Ministry of Health published a 649-page document, with the list of these victims, recorded as of Aug. 31 and classified by age.
Among them, more than 11,000 children. Here are their names.
