The new Middle East of Benjamin Netanyahu will be neither more stable nor more peaceful than the old one. Quite the contrary. Violence begets violence.

Israel is on the verge of winning this war, but then what?

Israel is preparing to invade Lebanon for the fourth time in its history. After bringing Hezbollah to its knees in two weeks, it has no intention of stopping there. The passivity of the Iranian regime, which prefers to save its skin rather than that of its creature, and the orange-green light from the United States, which is not unhappy to see Hezbollah thus defeated, gives Benyamin Netanyahu free rein. He can finally fulfill his dream of breaking the Iranian axis, first by neutralizing Hezbollah, taking it back decades, and then perhaps going directly to Tehran (and its nuclear program), which would thus be deprived of its best deterrent weapon.
