BEIRUT — Three individuals were arrested for allegedly assaulting a military personnel in uniform in the border region of Wadi Khaled (Akkar) in northern Lebanon, a few days ago, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the north and a Lebanese Army statement reported Friday.
Several individuals involved in the incident as well have not been arrested yet, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent citing local residents who were at the scene of the attack against the army personnel.
Following the assault, which was captured in a video that spread on social media showing the victim being beaten while in the military uniform, the Intelligence Directorate arrested three citizens who were involved in the attack.

The incident had sparked outrage among the local residents, who are demanding that military justice hold the assailants accountable, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the north reported.
The head of the municipality of Wadi Khaled and one of the mukhtars refused to comment on the incident to L'Orient Today.
"An investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary," the army statement concluded.
