The general director of technical education in Lebanon, Hanadi Berri, on Tuesday, authorized students from the South and Nabatieh governates to take their official exams in centers different from those to which they were initially supposed to appear, reported the state-run National News Agency (NNA), a decision justified by the fact that “many people have been displaced from their villages because of the security situation in the South and Nabatieh governates.”

“In order to allow students enrolled in public and private technical schools to take the official exams for the year 2024, especially those who have been moved to other regions, we ask all directors of official exam centers techniques to admit students ... from the South and Nabatieh governates to other centers [than those which were initially assigned to them] and to allow them to take their exams,” stated the press release. “Their copies will be put in special envelopes, with the name of the center where they should have initially taken their exams written on them,” the text continued.

Since the start of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel in October 2023, hundreds of students in southern Lebanon have been prevented from continuing their education on a regular basis.
