BEIRUT — An armed clash occurred on Friday in Corniche al-Mazraa (Beirut) between the Lebanese Army's intelligence unit and Syrian nationals.
"While a patrol from the intelligence unit was chasing a car with a gang of Syrian nationals inside, who were committing fraud and impersonating security, the driver rammed the unit members and some civilians in an attempt to flee. This forced the unit members to shoot in the air and at the car and several members of the gang were arrested," the Lebanese Army posted on X.
The army initiated an investigation and efforts are ongoing to "arrest the remaining involved individuals."
