Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in the presence of Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported Saturday without specifying when the meeting took place.

According to a statement relayed by the NNA, the talks focused "on the latest political and security developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip and south Lebanon, as well as on other Resistance fronts."

"The discussion focused on the near future and the situation in Lebanon and the region," the text continues.

The Iranian minister arrived in Lebanon on Friday and was due to meet Lebanese officials on Saturday, including a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati held Saturday morning.

At the end of the meeting with Mikati, the Iranian minister stressed "the need to combine efforts to halt the Israeli aggression against Gaza and achieve equitable solutions for all countries in the region."

On his arrival in Beirut, Amir-Abdollahian said, "We have been saying it since the beginning of this crisis: war is not the solution. … We have made it clear to the United States that it must not support the Zionists' [Israel's] genocide in Gaza, or their crimes in the occupied West Bank."
