The questioning of former Bank Audi CEO Samir Hanna, scheduled for Thursday by Beirut investigative judge Sheherazade Nasser, did not take place. Hanna’s attorney requested additional time to file procedural objections. The request was granted, and a new hearing was set for Sept. 3.The investigation stems from a complaint filed by current Banque du Liban Gov. Karim Souhaid and announced at a news conference last January against his predecessor, Riad Salameh, and Samir Hanna, although neither was explicitly named. According to our information, the complaint primarily concerns shares acquired in 2010 by Bank Audi from Egyptian company EFG Hermes, which held 17 million shares in the bank and sought to sell them.The transaction, reportedly valued at $153 million, was carried out through Middle East Opportunities for Structured Finance Ltd.,...
