As of Monday, Lebanon's National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has a new board of directors, the first to be appointed in several years. The board will be chaired for the next five years by none other than Beshara Asmar, president of the General Confederation of Workers in Lebanon (CGTL), one of the country's most powerful labor unions. First elected to the position in 2017, Asmar confirmed to L’Orient-Le Jour on Tuesday that he will not step down from the role.
