BEIRUT — The Parliament Bureau met in Beirut and scheduled two plenary sessions next Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 11 a.m., to discuss several key bills on the agenda. Two sessions will be held each day, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The proposed amnesty law, for which a new version has secured Sunni consensus, the bill on abolishing the death penalty, as well as the highly controversial new information law, will notably be considered.
According to L’Orient-Le Jour, the agenda was set following an agreement reached earlier this week between Speaker Nabih Berri and a majority of Sunni lawmakers.
Sunni MP Nabil Badr told L’Orient-Le Jour that the amnesty law should pass easily on Tuesday, benefiting from the support of Sunni political figures. The Lebanese Forces, which had derailed a previous session in July by withdrawing, said they would support the Sunni position and are expected to vote in favor of the bill.
