MPs convened Thursday for a new parliamentary session to continue debating an agenda that began the previous day.
MPs adopted an initial batch of bills Wednesday, including measures on official examinations, exemptions for war victims, a retirement plan for contractual employees at the Information Ministry and customs deserters. It was Parliament's first session since MPs extended the Chamber's mandate in April.
MPs are now set to examine several draft laws, including a proposal to abolish the death penalty and another to establish a general amnesty.
According to the state-run National News Agency, Information Minister Paul Morcos arrived early at Parliament to meet with several MPs and relay proposals recently submitted by journalists and media outlets on the draft media law, with a view to incorporating them into the text.
