Missing persons of Wadi Slouqi: One survivor, three bodies, and a valley of unanswered questions

On June 15, a day after yet another cease-fire took effect, Jawad Bazzi, Hadi Raqqa, Mohammad Hassan, and Ali Qashmar disappeared in southern Lebanon. Their bodies were found 19 days later.

On July 4, 19 days after four men disappeared in southern Lebanon, a shepherd reported to the Lebanese Army human remains by the roadside at the bottom of Wadi Slouqi, one of the strategic valleys where fierce fighting between Hezbollah and the Israeli army had continued until a few weeks earlier.Previous search operations had focused several kilometers further south, in the neighboring Wadi Hujeir valley (Marjayoun district) and near where Shaqra, Safad al-Batikh, and Majdal Selm (Bint Jbeil district) — the last place where the four men had been seen — intersect.The army immediately coordinated with UNIFIL to activate the mechanism, the body tasked with overseeing the cease-fire.
