The Mount Lebanon Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Elie Helou, on Wednesday sentenced Jonathan Chamoun to 20 years in prison for the killing of 19-year-old Khalil Khalil on Feb. 2, 2025, in Faraya.The crime happened when Romario Slim and Khalil got into a road rage incident over the right of way. Louna Bteish was in the car with Slim, who used her phone to call Chamoun to show up. Unlike the indictment issued by the investigative judge and upheld by the Mount Lebanon Court of Appeal before the case was referred to the Criminal Court, the court did not find Slim and Bteish complicit in the killing.The court held that complicity requires a shared criminal intent between the accomplice and the perpetrator.
