Arrest of an IS emir in Lebanon puts security cooperation with Damascus to the test

Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) said on Monday that they had arrested, two weeks earlier, an IS emir responsible for the group’s “southern” and “central” districts in Syria. In Syria, similar arrests were made following the two IS-attributed attacks that shook the country earlier this month. However, several observers say the arrest of a senior Islamic State organisation official in Lebanon who was preparing attacks in Syria stands out.
