Strike on residential building in Abbassiyé leaves at least 2 dead, 4 injured

An Israeli airstrike hit a residential building in the town of Abbassieh (Sour district) early evening, killing at least two people and injuring four others, according to our correspondent in south Lebanon.

The strike targeted several homes in the center of Abbassiyé, including the multi-story Ali Zein building in the Saouad neighborhood. The building was completely destroyed and a fire broke out following the attack.

Israeli aircraft also struck Tebnin (Bint Jbeil district) once again.

In addition, according to our correspondent in the Bekaa, Israeli air raids targeted Sohmor in West Bekaa.

13 more people killed in Israeli strikes on south Lebanon

At least seven people have been killed after Israeli warplanes targeted a three-story building in Arabsalim (Nabatieh district).

The building housed several families from the same extended family, including women and children. According to a resident, the strike completely destroyed the building, while rescue teams rushed to the scene to retrieve victims from beneath the rubble.

He added that rescue teams have so far recovered the remains of seven victims, while search operations are still ongoing for others missing under the debris.

Three people, including two sisters identified as Mariam and Amina Hashem, have been killed and one person has been wounded in the Israeli airstrike that targeted the village of Nmairieh (Nabatieh district).

Three other persons have been killed in the Israeli airstrike that targeted Roumin (Nabatieh) earlier. They were identified as Nader Adel Makki and his children Ali and Karim.

Three Israeli airstrikes have targeted Roumin (Nabatieh district) and Arab al-Jal (Saida), leaving casualties.

Two Israeli strikes have also targeted the village of Harouf (Nabatieh). One of these strikes, carried out by a drone, killed one person and wounded another. Israeli warplanes have also carried out strikes on Nmairieh, Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Zefta (Nabatieh).

New Israeli strikes target south Lebanon villages

An Israeli drone has carried out a strike on the neighborhood of Qalaa in the village of Harouf (Nabatieh district). Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes have carried out a strikes on the villages of Zawtar Sharqieh, Roumin and Arabsalim (Nabatieh)and targeted a house in Majdal Selm (Marjayoun).

Moreover, Israeli artillery shelling has targeted the village of Yohmor al-Shaqif, as well as the outskirts of Zawtar toward Yohmor al-Shaqif.

The Israeli army carried out several bombardments in recent hours, including on Kfarhata (Saida district), which was struck twice after evacuation orders, as well as Deir al-Zahrani (Nabatieh district), where residents had also been ordered to evacuate.

Other strikes were carried out without prior warning on Haddatha, Aita al-Jabal, Tebnin (Bint Jbeil district), Jarjouh, Rihan (Jezzin district), Halloussieh, and Zebqin (Sour district).

Hezbollah attack drones: UNIFIL reports multiple explosions near its bases, no injuries reported

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) expressed concern over the increased use of drones in south Lebanon, mainly by Hezbollah targeting Israeli forces in the area.

Reporting at least five explosions involving drones in and around its positions over recent days, saying these incidents put peacekeepers at risk.

Incidents include three suspected Hezbollah drones exploding near UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura on May 11, another explosion near the same area the following day, followed minutes later by an explosion inside the UNIFIL HQ that damaged buildings.

On May 10, a non-armed Iranian-made drone crashed inside the HQ area in Naqoura and on May 5, an armed fiber-optic guided drone, suspected to belong to Hezbollah, struck a U.N. position near Haniyeh without exploding or causing injuries.

UNIFIL called on all parties to avoid operations near its positions and personnel, warning of risks to peacekeepers, and said it had protested to both the Israeli army and the Lebanese Army over military and non-state armed activity near its positions.

The two waves of Israeli strikes on Kfar Roummane (Nabatieh) killed at least one person, according to a preliminary report from our correspondent in southern Lebanon. The victim’s identity was not immediately known.

Meanwhile, the deadly drone strike on a car in Saadiyat, south of Beirut, killed Adnane Ali Faour, his wife and their child, originally from Debaal (Sour).

Hezbollah claims ambush on Israeli army between Rshaf and Haddatha

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for two new attacks against the Israeli army in the central sector of southern Lebanon. The group claims to have targeted and “hit with a drone” a Merkava tank in Ainata at 10.30 a.m., and to have ambushed an Israeli army force attempting to advance from the village of Rshaf towards the outskirts of the village of Haddatha (Bint Jbeil).

“Upon its arrival at the ambush site," Hezbollah “detonated an explosive device against the advancing force, then engaged its members using small arms, medium-range weapons and rockets,” according to a statement released by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah launches fresh attacks against Israeli army positions in occupied southern Lebanon

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for fresh attacks against occupying Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army, for its part, reports that “in the last few hours … several booby-trapped drones have fallen near the area where Israeli forces are operating in southern Lebanon.”

Hezbollah claims to have fired rockets at Israeli soldiers at 9.05 a.m. in Qouzah (Bint Jbeil), a site recently established by the Israeli army in Blat (Marjayoun) at 9.15 am, and an Israeli army armored personnel carrier at 10.00 am in the town of Bint Jbeil (district of the same name), hitting “the target directly.”

Israel also stated that it had “recently intercepted two suspicious aerial targets identified in an area” occupied by its forces in southern Lebanon. It did not mention any casualties resulting from the attacks reported.

The IEA sounds the alarm over the ‘record’ depletion of oil reserves as war drags on

The world is drawing down its oil reserves at a "record" rate as the war in the Middle East drags on: the International Energy Agency (IEA) has warned, as summer approaches, of a scenario where the oil market will be "in deficit" for months and of further price spikes.

“More than ten weeks after the start of the war in the Middle East, growing supply losses in the Strait of Hormuz are depleting global oil stocks at a record pace,” the IEA highlights in its monthly report on oil markets, as quoted by AFP.

“The rapid decline in reserves against a backdrop of persistent disruptions could herald future price spikes,” adds the OECD’s energy agency.

Fellow paramedics carry the coffins of two of their colleagues from the Lebanese Civil Defense killed in a targeted Israeli airstrike on Nabatieh on May 12.

During the funeral ceremony in the southern city of Saida on May 13, the Director-General of the Civil Defense, Imad Khreich, emphasized that the two victims had “sacrificed their lives to save others.” He stated that the institution he heads “will continue its humanitarian mission and its sacrifices alongside the citizens, particularly in the South,” reports our correspondent in southern Lebanon.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Medal of Sacrifice to the two victims and a prayer over their bodies, before they were taken in a funeral procession to Haret Saida, where they have been temporarily buried pending their subsequent transfer to their home villages.

Israel orders evacuation of 3 villages in southern Lebanon: Kfar Hata, Arab Salim, and Deir Zahrani

The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order for the villages of Kfar Hata (Saida), Arab Salim, and Deir Zahrani (Nabatieh).

“You must evacuate your homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters away from towns and villages to open areas,” the statement said.

This is the second evacuation threat issued today. Earlier this morning, Israel ordered the evacuation of six other villages, all located in the district of Sour, which were subsequently targeted with successive airstrikes.

Targeted Israeli strike on Saida kills 1 person

An Israeli drone strike targeted a van in Saida, southern Lebanon, near the town’s stadium, killing the driver of the vehicle and injuring another, according to our local correspondent.

Since this morning, Israel has increased its frequency and intensity of targeted attacks on vehicles, killing at least eight people, including two children, in three strikes along the Chouf coastline, in Jiyyeh and Saadiyat, and also targeting Naqoura and the area near the Shaaitiyeh junction towards Maaliyeh (Sour).

Israel has targeted Halloussiyeh, as well as a house in the neighboring village of Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, in the district of Sour. These are localities situated more than 30 km from the border, and neighboring that of Halloussiyeh al-Fawqa, for which the Israeli army issued an evacuation order at 9 a.m. Two people, who were traveling in a tanker truck carrying fuel oil, were slightly injured in the strike on Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, reports our correspondent in the region.

Israel also targeted with an airstrike an area in Debaal, a town in the district of Sour included in this morning’s list of towns ordered to evacuate.

Third Israeli drone attack south of Beirut this morning

A third Israeli drone strike this morning targeted a car on a road south of Beirut, between Saadiyat and Dibbiyeh, running parallel to the main highway linking Beirut to Saida. The strike took place around 20 kilometers south of Beirut, just north of Jiyyeh, where the two previous targeted Israeli drone strikes took place a few hours earlier, our correspondent reports.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli positions in the Bint Jbeil area and in Deir Seriane

Hezbollah, for its part, has claimed responsibility for several attacks carried out in recent hours on positions held by Israeli forces occupying southern Lebanon, including:

A rocket barrage at 2 a.m. targeting Israeli soldiers in Wadi Ouyoun (Bint Jbeil), and Srebbine.

A guided missile strike on an Israeli military vehicle, also in Wadi Ouyoun.

The launch of an explosive drone at a bulldozer in Khallet al-Raj, near Deir Siryan. The Israeli army had announced that it had crossed the Litani River northwards in this area.

Israeli evacuation threat for Sour district: Dozens of families forced to flee their homes

Dozens of families have had to flee their homes following the Israeli evacuation threat for six entire villages in the district of Sour, some of which are located more than 30 km from the southern border. Many have traveled to the Sour coastal road or to Saida.

Israeli order to evacuate Abbassieh: Local council urges residents to seek shelter 'immediately' at temporary accommodation center

In a statement, the Abbassieh municipality has called on its residents to seek refuge “immediately” in the temporary shelter located in Abbassieh High School, following the Israeli evacuation order issued less than an hour ago. The municipality is calling on “all residents to follow the instructions issued and to cooperate fully with the relevant teams, in order to facilitate the evacuation process.”

At around 9 a.m., the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of six entire villages in the district of Sour.

At around 9 a.m. this morning, an Israeli strike targeted a car near Jiyyeh, south of Beirut, on the highway linking Saida to Beirut, killing one person.

Initial footage received by our correspondent shows the car immediately catching fire. The vehicle targeted was a van loaded with food supplies, according to information from our correspondent. It belonged to the company "al-Anwar," according to a sign on the vehicle.

At around 10 a.m., another Israeli strike targeted another vehicle on the highway linking Saida to Beirut, near Jiyyeh. The targeted 4x4 was carrying four people, according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.

Strike on Civil Defence in Nabatieh: Local association condemns ‘blatant act of aggression’ and calls on government to ‘fully assume its responsibilities’

The Nabatieh District Traders’ Association issued a statement on Tuesday evening condemning the Israeli “blatant aggression,” following the strike earlier that day which killed two rescue workers in the town of Nabatieh. It emphasizes that “the targeting of rescue teams and paramedics represents a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of international humanitarian law.”

The association calls on the Lebanese government to lodge a complaint with the U.N. Security Council and to “fully assume its national responsibilities in the face of what is unfolding in the southern regions, to act urgently to protect civilians, institutions and infrastructure, and to immediately take steps with the international community to put an end to the repeated attacks.”

Nightime Israeli strikes on areas in Bint Jbeil, Sour, and Nabatieh

Shortly after 10.30 pm on Tuesday, the Israeli air force bombed a house in Yater (Bint Jbeil) and areas in the Sour district at Sammaaiyeh and Mansouri, followed by sustained artillery fire against neighborhoods in the latter town.

Furthermore, the Israeli strike on Deir Zahrani (Nabatieh) in the evening killed two people, according to our correspondent. And the Amal Movement announced the death of one of its members, Hassan Badreddine, in a strike on Nabatieh on Tuesday.

Toll from Tuesday’s Israeli attacks: 19 towns bombed, 20 subjected to artillery fire, at least 13 killed

Southern Lebanon was subjected to another day of deadly Israeli attacks on Tuesday. Israel targeted 19 towns with airstrikes, and five areas in five different towns with drone attacks, according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.

Twenty towns were also subjected to intensive artillery bombardment. These Israeli attacks killed 13 people, including two paramedics from Nabatieh and Lebanese Army soldier, according to the Health Ministry. The Israeli army also carried out two major controlled demolition operations in two towns.

For its part, Hezbollah carried out 25 attacks targeting Israeli soldiers, vehicles, and military positions.
