SOUTH LEBANON — Israeli strikes continued in South Lebanon overnight into Sunday after a bloody day that also hit the Chouf, according to our correspondent, who said 81 air and drone strikes were carried out on Saturday, while Hezbollah launched 22 attacks on Israeli military positions in occupied Lebanese territory and inside Israel.

The health ministry had not yet updated the overall casualty toll as of Sunday morning, which stood at 2,759 killed and 8,512 injured as of Friday evening. However, it did update the toll from Saturday’s strike on a building in Bedias (Sour district), which is now at one dead and 13 wounded, including six children and two women.

The bombardments continued as the funerals of the Saksakieh victims, near Saida, were held, and drones flew intensively over several regions of the country, including Beirut and its surroundings.

Series of bombardments

In the Bint Jbeil district, an Israeli drone strike on a site belonging to the Islamic Health Committee, affiliated with Hezbollah, killed at least one and injured three people in Qalawieh. At dawn, houses in Safad al-Battikh and Shakra were bombed, while a large explosion caused by the Israeli army occurred in the town of Bint Jbeil, the district capital. Around noon Sunday, the Israeli army bombed a gas station in Burj Qalawieh.

In Sour district, one person was injured in a drone strike on an orchard in Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain, and five others were injured in a strike on Ramadieh and one in Shaaitieh. The Sammahieh road in Tayr Harfa was also hit by a strike that killed one person.

Rescuers from the al-Rissala Relief Association (affiliated with the Amal Shiite movement) and the Islamic Health Committee retrieved the body of a victim and rescued two injured. Later, Israeli artillery shelled Srifa (Srifa) with four shells, causing olive fields to catch fire.

Debaal was also hit by a strike. Early in the afternoon, another drone strike killed one and injured two rescuers from the Islamic Health Committee near Tebnin, at another site where they were deployed.

In the Marjayoun district, Israeli aviation bombed Debbin, Majdal Selm and Blat. In the Nabatieh district, a drone fired at a house near the Hijazi store in the village of Zefta, while another struck near the old al-Sabah secondary school in the city of Nabatieh, injuring at least one. Another strike later hit Yohmor Shaqif. In the Jezzin district, Qatrani was bombed early in the afternoon.

Our correspondent also reported that the Israeli army set off a significant explosion in Rshaf (Bint Jbeil) Saturday evening.

Another victim was Ali Waheb Moustapha, a 27-year-old man with psychological disorders from Beit Lif, who was killed by Israelis on the Naqoura road while riding a two-wheeler. He had reached the area after passing through a Lebanese Army checkpoint in the al-Amiriya region.

Also on Saturday night, the Israeli army shelled Sarira (Jezzine), then Harouf (Nabatieh), killing one person. It then shelled twice the nuns’ quarter in the city of Nabatieh and blew up houses in Yaroun (Bint Jbeil) as well as in Safad al-Battikh (Bint Jbeil). In the middle of the night, Israeli aviation also bombed Harouf and Jebsheet (Nabatieh).

Between Saturday night and Sunday morning, Hezbollah published several statements recounting its various attacks on the Israeli army: four carried out on Saturday and one on Sunday.

On Saturday, the pro-Iran party-militia said it fired various weapons at Israeli soldiers in Khiam (around 1 p.m.), Khallet al-Rajh (around 4 p.m.), and targeted a Merkava tank in al-Bayyada (around 5 p.m.). Hezbollah also said it targeted Israeli soldiers at a heliport in Shlomi, northern Israel. On Sunday, an Israeli excavator was hit in Deir Seriane (around 8 a.m.), before the movement announced it had successfully launched two kamikaze drones at 10:45 a.m. at an Israeli command headquarters in Khiam.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced it had intercepted at least three objects, including two drones, headed toward its soldiers Sunday morning. Warning sirens also sounded in Bar’am, northern Israel, following a rocket that reportedly landed in an uninhabited area.

In a statement issued by its Arabic-speaking spokesperson Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army also said it had attacked 40 Hezbollah infrastructures and killed 10 members of the militia.
