Residents of Deir Siryan watch on their screens as Israel razes their village to the ground
The village of Deir Siryan, in the Marjayoun district, which has reportedly been occupied by the Israeli army, is located on a hill overlooking the Litani.
"My house was destroyed four days ago. I spotted it in a video shared online by the Israeli army," says Ali Ibrahim, mukhtar of Deir Siryan. Like him, the approximately 3,000 residents of this village in the southeastern district of Marjayoun, had to leave on the first day of the escalated war with Israel following sweeping Israeli evacuation orders. Today, they watch on their screens as Israel destroys what was left of their village with explosives. The images are reminiscent of other villages in southern Lebanon that were completely wiped out during the 2024 war and now reflect an official Israeli policy of annihilation.
