BEIRUT — Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received a call from Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, who expressed "his support for the Lebanese people in these difficult times."
Sharaa said that the strengthening of the military presence at the Syrian-Lebanese border was "intended solely to ensure control of the borders and to preserve Syria's internal security, as has been done at the border with Iraq."
He also stressed "the importance of continuing coordination between the two countries."
Salam thanked "the Syrian president for his call and his support for the Lebanese people," stressing "the importance of maintaining consultations and cooperation between Lebanon and Syria."
